Carles Congost born in Olot, Girona, Spain, 1970, with a degree in Fine Arts by the University of Barcelona, he lives and works between Barcelona and Olot. In his work he combines different media and supports such as video, music, drawing, photography and installation to create a complex and ironic discourse about art and its exchanges. His work is characterized by this singular fondness for different subgenres of the mass culture, which he raises questions about the prevailing mechanisms of the art of our day. Throughout his work we see how the role the artist plays in the contemporary world is related to that of the adolescent undergoing the socialization process. The uninhibited way in which he integrates very different influences, such as pop music, comic books, television, fantasy films and teenage iconography, into his artistic discourse, in addition to a very particular use of irony and humour, shape a work underscored by its demystifying nature, breaking down the hierarchies of forms of expression.

He has participated in group exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris; PS1/MOMA, New York; Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin; 50th Venice Biennal, Venice; IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art), Dublin; f a projects, London; Santralistambul, Istanbul; Müczarnok Kunsthalle, Budapest; Museo Carrillo Gil, México; CA2M, Móstoles (Madrid); Manifesta 11, Zurich; etc. He has also been invited to carry out specific projects for the editions of the fairs: ARCO ‘ 01, Madrid; Artissima o6, Torino; and Frieze 08, London.
