For the first solo show at Artericambi, Arcangelo Sassolino will engrave the floor of the Gallery and tear it from the ground, suspending it in the air. Quintals of tiles and concrete held together by an electro-welded metal mesh will form a rectangular concrete dowel with an area of twenty square meters, which will be raised to eye level by means of metal cables. The area below will reveal the bare ground like the pit of a cemetery. At the end of the exhibition the “sculpture” will be lowered to the ground again to recompose the floor.

Colossal in size, weight and expenditure of means, the work violently bursts into the orderly structure of the building imposing itself on the gaze and evoking a temporal dimension linked to the past and memory on the one hand, on the other it is characterized by its remarkable formal impact . In fact, both the trauma of the tear in the floor obtained with evident use of physical force, and the tension between the gravity of the sculpture and its aerial location are elements that hardly leave you cold. Contrasts, frictions and scars mark an aesthetic based on balances pushed to the limit and which by association of ideas recall those contrasts, frictions and scars that we experience daily simply by being in the world.
