On Saturday 1 June, the ARTE E RICAMBI will present VERSUS, an exhibition-event by the artist Andrea Contin which has boxing as its theme. On the evening of the inauguration, a real match will be held inside the ARTE E RICAMBI space, but with three boxers in the ring against each other.

Boxing, as we know it, represents from an anthropological point of view the survival of ancient rites, of which it retains the sacredness and cathartic power, and of which it still embodies the archetypes. However, by inserting a third contender, these values are unhinged, transforming the fight into a brawl. Brawl which, according to Contin, represents the absolute metaphor of the contemporary age, in which all ethics seem banned.

A video will be made from the performance of the three boxers, which will then be presented in the Arte e Ricambi space together with a photographic documentation of the event. In addition, a shop will be set up where it will be possible to buy works-gadgets related to the event. Other works, graphics and objects, such as a training rope with handprints in the bronze handles, made especially for the occasion, will complete the exhibition.

The exhibition, which will be accompanied by a text by Michele Robecchi, counts on the support of the VITA boxing association of Verona to which the three boxers involved in the match belong and on the patronage of the Department of Youth and Sport Policies of the Municipality of Verona.
